How Much Does a Website Cost? A Straight-Talk Pricing Guide for 2026
By Codeventure Infotech

If you’ve asked a few companies for a website quote, you’ve probably noticed the numbers don’t agree. One quotes ₹8,000. Another quotes ₹3 lakh, or $12,000 if you asked an agency abroad, for what sounds like the same project. Neither is necessarily wrong. They’re usually quoting very different things.
What actually drives the price
Three things move the number more than anything else: how many different page layouts you need, whether the site has to do something beyond showing information (bookings, online ordering, ecommerce, member areas), and how much original content, such as copywriting and photography, has to be created rather than supplied by you.
A five-page site built from your existing logo, photos and text is a much smaller job than a fifteen-page site with a product catalogue, a custom quote calculator and all the text written from scratch. Anyone who quotes one flat number for “a website” without asking about these things is quoting a template, not your project.
Typical costs for common projects
Here’s how our own pricing works, as a reference point. All packages include a CMS, contact form, mobile-friendly and SEO-friendly design, royalty-free images and two custom-domain email addresses.
- Single-page website: from $100 (about ₹8,800). Ideal for a new business that needs a professional presence fast.
- Business website, up to 15 pages: from $250 (about ₹22,000). The most common project for shops, clinics, consultants, manufacturers and service businesses. See our website design & development service.
- Larger website, up to 45 pages: from $500 (about ₹44,000), including video tutorials on updating the site yourself. Built on WordPress so you can edit pages afterwards.
- Online store: from $150 for a single-page store, rising with the number of products, payment gateways, shipping and tax rules. Details on our ecommerce store page.
- Ongoing maintenance and hosting: usually a separate, recurring cost; see our hosting and maintenance services.
All current packages are listed on our pricing table, and yes, we can negotiate.
Why quotes vary so much
A large agency has account managers, sales staff and office overheads that a small studio doesn’t, and those costs show up in the quote however much work your project actually needs. That isn’t automatically bad; some businesses want the extra layers. But it’s worth knowing you’re paying for them.
At the other end, extremely cheap marketplace quotes often mean a one-person operation with no support once the invoice is paid. The sweet spot for most small businesses is in the middle: a specialist team that works with you directly, keeps overheads low and sticks around after launch.
Questions to ask before you sign
- Is this a fixed price, or will extra pages and revisions be billed separately?
- Who owns the website and domain once it’s built: you, or the agency?
- What happens after launch? Is there a maintenance plan, or are you on your own?
- Does the price include basic on-page SEO, such as titles, meta descriptions and schema, or is that extra?
A fair quote answers all four without hesitation. If you want an exact number for your project instead of a range, the fastest way is to book a free consultation or send us your requirements. We’ll tell you the real price up front, not after a sales pitch.
Frequently asked questions
Is a cheap website ever worth it?
Sometimes, if your needs are truly minimal, such as a single page with your name, services, phone number and hours. The risk is that “cheap” often means no support, so there’s nobody to call when you need a change.
Do I pay monthly for a website or just once?
Both models exist. A one-time build gives you a website you own outright; you still pay separately for hosting and domain renewal each year. A monthly plan bundles hosting, maintenance and small edits into one predictable payment.
What’s a realistic budget for a small business website?
For a professional WordPress website with basic SEO done properly, our packages start at $100 (about ₹8,800) for a single page and $250 (about ₹22,000) for up to 15 pages, and prices are negotiable based on your requirements.
